CI Research Has Launched a New Natural Product Aiming Plug the Treatment Gap Left by the Withdrawal From the Market of COX-2 Inhibitors

The withdrawal of major treatments for arthritis and rheumatism due to serious side effects has led to a reduction in available treatment to patients. The drugs; known as COX-2 Inhibitors; have been voluntarily withdrawn by the manufacturers after safety data showed that they were not as safe as first thought. This has led to a reduction in the number of treatments available to sufferers of Arthritis. CI Research hopes to fill that void with a new natural alternative that contains organic silica.

September 29, 2005 -- The last 12 months have seen a number of medicines belonging to the COX-2 inhibitors family of drugs withdrawn from the market because of serious side effects. Pharmaceutical companies voluntarily took them off the market after further studies showed that there was a significant risk to the health of the patients that were using these medicines. This was an important safety move by the major pharmaceutical manufacturers. However, this action has reduced the number of available treatments on offer to sufferers of arthritis and rheumatism.

CI Research aim to improve the choice of treatments available by promoting a new product containing organic silica gel, meadowsweet and blackcurrant. An ancient Moroccan treatment for Arthritis and Rheumatism provides the underlying principle for the medicine.

?For many centuries now Arthritis and Rheumatism has been treated in North Africa by burying patients up to their necks in hot sand to promote the absorption of silica into the body. Silica is shown to have a beneficial effect when used to treat Arthritis and Rheumatism. However, this is not an efficient way to treat patients in today?s society and until recently, it was difficult to produce a form of silica that could be easily absorbed into the body. Norbert Duffaut changed all that when he managed to produce a highly soluble version of Organic silica and it is this, together with meadowsweet and blackcurrant that produce the beneficial effect of Artrosilium to sufferers of arthritis and rheumatism,? said Dr. Anton Robinson from C.I. Research.

This is just one product that CI Research have developed and they hope to produce many more natural alternatives to treat arthritis and rheumatism to fill the void created by the withdrawal of many of the COX-2 inhibitors. CI research may have identified an increased demand for alternative and natural medicines as the safety of contemporary medicine is called into question.

Maintaining patient choice and access to medicines is paramount and many companies are now ensuring that there are enough natural and alternative medicines like Artrosilium to fill the void and satisfy demand. It is also the responsibility of these companies to ensure that there are safe and effective medicines available for use. Safety and choice is now undoubtedly at the forefront of patients minds. CI Research appear to have correctly identified this need and are now developing a further range of products to support Artrosilium and increase the choice of medicines available to patients.
